Certified Divorce Attorneys Billing MT – Is This Legal?

Law

There is a lot of information out there in regards to the costs of a Certified Divorce Attorney Billing Form. The billings are where you pay for your services, and most likely your Certified Divorce Attorneys will bill their clients on an hourly basis. The more hours they work, the more they will be billed per hour. This includes mileage, and any other expenses incurred while working with you. Below I have outlined a couple of things that I did to verify the charges were correct.

First, I called all of the attorneys that I was considering. Then, I called the offices of the Certified Divorce Attorneys that I was considering. All of the phone numbers were verified by the attorneys. It was then my job to contact them again to make sure the billings were correctly written, and that they knew the legal separation/divorce laws for their state.

Second, after checking to make sure the Certified Divorce Attorneys Billing Form was submitted correctly, and that all of the lawyers had submitted it as required, I checked to see what the actual billings said.

First, there were two separate bills; one for the actual attorney’s services, and one for me. It was extremely easy to see that this was an error. I confirmed this by calling each of the lawyers on the list and finding out that they had indeed submitted the appropriate forms to their state boards, and that they were receiving payment according to their hourly rates.

Third, when I called the office of the Certified Divorce Attorneys Lawyers in New York, I found out that they had sent me a letter addressed to me.

It was addressed to the family law courts, and it advised me not to schedule a meeting until all three parties had agreed that they would be agreeable to meeting with me, before we proceed. Based on the information I read, and the obvious discrepancy between the forms we had previously filled out, and this letter, it appears that the Certified Divorce Attorneys Lawyers in New York may be attempting to intimidate clients into settling their divorce without a trial. If this is the case, and I believe that it is, then this is truly unfortunate.

Now, I am not an attorney, and I cannot comment on the legitimacy of this lawsuit, or whether it should have been done.

What I can tell you is that I have never seen any kind of refusal by a family lawyer to discuss child custody or alimony, prior to a meeting with that lawyer. As far as I am concerned, this is unethical, and I am considering switching to a different family law firm. I am also wondering whether or not the Certified Divorce Attorneys Lawyers in New York charge high fees for their work.

Based on my personal experience with New York divorce lawyers, I do not believe they will be in any way instrumental in the final resolution of the divorce, nor do I think that they will attempt to intimidate their clients into signing a “verifiable” legal separation document.

The only advice I would offer those in the divorce process is to simply ask for verification of the legal separation agreement. There is New York Divorce Attorneys who will be more than happy to provide the verification, and will not try to force a client into signing one. If you are in the process of divorcing and are considering using an attorney who practices in New York, please ask them about their fees before you sign anything, so that you can have all of your questions answered.
