Chase bank is one of the many banks involved in the Chase Bank Class Action Lawsuit. This is a lawsuit that was filed in 2021 by former and current customers who were misinformed about the interest rate they paid for a Chase loan. The lawsuit named banks, including Chase, as defendants. It was later discovered that other banks and lenders were also included as well. Chase bank was one of those and they are also one of the main parties involved. One of the class representatives is attorney Robert Gage.
In the Chase bank class action lawsuit, the plaintiffs were able to receive monetary damages as well as legal fees and costs. Among the damages are payments for medical bills, travel expenses, lost income, and the cost of overtime during the process of settling the lawsuit. Per the agreement, class members will receive between seventy-five and a maximum of one hundred and fifty dollars, or the amount previously decided. Other class members who were not paid in the Chase Bank are entitled to one hundred and ten dollars. There is no ceiling on the compensation.
Gage is a plaintiff in the Chase bank class action lawsuit. He is one of the five class members who filed suit to be paid for the overdraft fees he incurred from a Chase account. During the lawsuit he was able to recoup his losses. He is currently the plaintiff in the lawsuit, who is due to receive his share of the money. His settlement will cover up to two thousand five hundred and forty-two thousand dollars of fees he is owed from the overdraft fees he incurred.
There is also another defendant in the Chase bank class action lawsuit, which is the cash advance fees Lyle Burch received from her personal credit card purchase. Lyle Burch is a defendant because she is the one who is responsible for those charges that were made on her card. She is also the one who is responsible for the fees charged to her account from the currency purchase. Both she and her husband have been sued by the plaintiffs in the currency class action lawsuit.
The currency class action lawsuit says that Lyle Burch knew that she was not authorized to use the currency of any foreign country, nor did she obtain consent from the buyer to transact in currencies. Instead, according to the lawsuit, she obtained cash advance fees from her personal credit card purchase. The lawsuit alleges that she failed to disclose that the monies she was acquiring were not coming from an institution, as she was expecting, but instead was getting cash advances from her personal credit card purchases. It is also alleged that Lyle Burch did not disclose to her husband that he was getting cash advances from his own credit card purchases, which is a violation of applicable federal laws. The lawsuit further says that Lyle Burch failed to make timely payments on her credit card accounts to theCrypto Currency Settlement Company which was holding her accounts. This is a direct violation of FDCPA regulations regarding the collection of late fees and penalties when one’s credit card payments are overdue.
In addition to the foregoing, the Cryptocurrency Class Action Lawsuit also says that Lyle Burch and her husband contributed to the conditions that led to their own financial crisis. Their living situation came to be detrimental due to the credit card overdrafts and defaults. They later sold their homes and had to move to other areas, resulting in further financial hardship. The court did not grant class action status to the plaintiff but found merit in the complaint and ruled in favor of the plaintiffs.
